About ShackDeck

ShackDeck is made by Dmytro Hoidenko, US0UV. It is free, and it will stay free.

Where the data comes from

Everything on this site was heard on the air. When a ShackDeck user listens through a receiver, the program decodes what it hears and, if the user has switched sharing on, sends hourly summaries to this site: callsign, band, mode, receiver, the hour, how many decodes, the best signal. Single decodes and audio are never sent.

From that, every callsign gets a page: which receivers hear it, on what bands and at what hours. Nothing is copied from other databases.

Confirmed contacts

A contact appears on the site only when both operators use ShackDeck, both have it in their logs and both share with the site. The site matches the two halves by callsigns, band and time, and shows the contact as confirmed. A contact that only one side reported stays invisible.

Your page

A callsign page shows what was transmitted on the air: the callsign, the locator when the station sends it, bands, times and signal levels, and the confirmed contacts. Register with your callsign to add your profile. What the site and the program know about you is written out in the privacy policy; the rules of use are in the terms of use.
